  26. 1.1 SECTION INCLUDES

  31. 1.2 SUBMITTALS

  33.     A.  Submit under provisions of Section 01300.

  35.     B.  Product Data:  Manufacturer's descriptive product
  36.         information, including installation instructions.
  37. NOTE ** Delete the following paragraph if color matching to
  38.         the installation surface is not required.  Colored
  39.         powder coating, Colorcoat(tm), is an option to
  40.         stainless steel.

  42.     C.  Sample for Color Matching:  A piece of the finished
  43.         installation surface or a paint chip matching the surface
  44.         color, not less than 2 inches (50 mm) square.

  46.     D.  Verification Samples:  Actual strips of specified models,
  47.         not less than 6 inches (150 mm) long.

  49. 1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE

  51.     A.  Installers:  Completely familiar with installation of
  52.         products similar to those required for this project.

  54. 1.4 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

  56.     A.  Store and handle materials to avoid damage to products
  57.         and injury to installers.

  76. 2.2 BIRD CONTROL STRIPS
  77.  
  78.     A.  Strips:  Provide architectural bird control in the form
  79.         of flexible needle strips made of Type 316 stainless
  80.         steel, and as follows:
  81. NOTE ** Delete all but one of the following three
  82.         paragraphs describing Nixalite models.  Where more
  83.         than one type is required, indicate models on
  84.         drawings.
  85. NOTE ** Model S is used for small birds, swallows, pigeons,
  86.         and seagulls.
  87. NOTE ** Model L is used for pigeons and seagulls.
  88. NOTE ** Model N is used for pigeons, mud swallows,
  89.         vultures, and other large birds.
  90.         1.  Nixalite Model S, 4 inches (102 mm) wide by 3-3/4
  91.             inches (95 mm) high, 120 needles per 12 inches (305
  92.             mm).
  93.         2.  Nixalite Model L, 4 inches (102 mm) wide by 3-3/4
  94.             inches (95 mm) high, 120 needles per 12 inches (305
  95.             mm).
  96.         3.  Nixalite Model N, 4 inches (102 mm) wide by 3-3/4
  97.             inches (95 mm) high, 120 needles per 12 inches (305
  98.             mm).
  99. NOTE ** The following two paragraphs cover special
  100.         applications; delete if not required.
  101. NOTE ** Model H is a half-row model used for ledges less
  102.         than 2 inches (51 mm) in depth and in conjunction
  103.         with Models S, L, and N to achieve proper spacing.
  104. NOTE ** Model W is a wall-mounted type for vertical and
  105.         sloped surfaces.
  106.         4.  Narrow Ledges and Where Indicated:  Nixalite Model H,
  107.             2 inches (51 mm) wide by 3-3/4 inches (95 mm) high,
  108.             60 needles per 12 inches (305 mm).
  109.         5.  Wall Mounting:  Nixalite Model W, 3 inches (76 mm)
  110.             wide by 5-1/2 inches (140 mm) high, 120 needles per
  111.             12 inches (305 mm).
  112. NOTE ** Delete one of the following two paragraphs.
  113.         6.  Finish:  Natural stainless steel finish.
  114.         7.  Finish:  Manufacturer's Colorcoat(tm) powder coat
  115.             finish.
  116. NOTE ** If stainless steel finish was specified above
  117.         delete the following color option.  The
  118.         manufacturer will match a sample of the
  119.         installation surface color as closely as possible.
  120.         If this option is used, be sure to include the
  121.         submission of the color sample in PART 1 under
  122.         Submittals.
  123.         8.  Color:  Custom color to match installation surface.
  124.  
  125.     B.  Mounting System:  Stainless steel mounting clips and
  126.         hardware as recommended by manufacturer.

  128. PART 3  EXECUTION
  129.  
  130. 3.1 EXAMINATION
  131.  
  132.     A.  Verify that installation surfaces are ready to receive
  133.         architectural bird control.  Do not proceed until
  134.         unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.
  135.  
  136. 3.2 PREPARATION
  137.  
  138.     A.  Clean installation surfaces thoroughly.  Remove bird
  139.         droppings and related bird refuse.  Remove overhanging
  140.         foliage.
  141.  
  142. 3.3 INSTALLATION
  143.  
  144.     A.  Install architectural bird control in accordance with
  145.         manufacturer's printed instructions.
  146.  
  147.     B.  Cover entire depth of surfaces indicated, cutting strips
  148.         where necessary to fit strips to the installation surface
  149.         properly.  Make strips follow curves and contours
  150.         closely.
  151.  
  152.     C.  Install at spacings specified in manufacturer's
  153.         instructions, for uniform appearance and without end-to-
  154.         end gaps.
  155.  
  156.     D.  Inspect finished installation and make adjustments as
  157.         necessary.
  158.  
  159. 3.4 CLEANING
  160.  
  161.     A.  Remove debris and waste materials from project site.
